Helping you connect people to the planet

Experience & Shared Vision

Got an environment-related writing project? Hire a seasoned editor who believes environmental research and education can transform lives and change the world.

Whether you’re writing NSF grants or donor newsletters, world-changing articles or school curriculum, I’m behind the scenes, success under my belt and dirt under my nails. Let’s dig in!

Hi, and welcome! I’m an editor, writer, and aspiring picture book author based in Raleigh, NC.

I spent over a decade teaching writing, research, literature, and pedagogy in university classrooms. Now I’m walking my talk, helping environmental scholars shape and share their writing.

Working with Susanna has been a game changer for me. I hired her to work on two grant proposals. Here is what I know: She’s smart, curious, and asks the right questions so that her editing work is efficient and on point. She not only improved the prose (expected) but help me to discover places where I could improve the impact and merit of the work (such a huge bonus). I’ve been telling anyone who will listen that Susanna brings a magic factor that has the potential to push a good idea into the “high priority for funding” pile.

She continually impressed me with her ability to gracefully manage multiple aggressive deadlines for diverse clients, including faculty and students. In the classroom, she’s vibrant, engaging, and demanding.

Working with Susanna has been a game changer for A Place at the Table. She’s tackled all of my messy first drafts of newsletters and random writings over the years and has transformed them into clear, concise, and engaging pieces. Her editing skills are top-notch and the best I’ve ever seen. She’s also a fantastic collaborator: supportive, encouraging, and always cheering me and my writing on.

Her creative pitches have been too good to pass up, and her final stories have enhanced our organization’s blog with highly-clicked-on posts that offer practical ways to experience parks. Her curiosity about nature generates amazing content — and on top of that, she’s a joy to work with! Susanna’s writing ensures the outdoors sound fun, inviting and open to all.
